You may have unwanted fatty deposits which you have been unable to diminish through diet and exercise.

These fatty deposits are commonly found in the area of the thighs, hips, tummy, buttocks, knees and ankles. The method through which these fatty deposits can be removed is called liposuction.

This procedure can also be performed to remove excess fat in cheeks, jowls, neck and chin areas.

Facial liposuction can be carried out alone, or in combination with facial lifting, eyelid correction, chin augmentation, nose correction, etc.

The fatty deposits are suctioned out by making a tiny incision through which a small tube or "cannula" is inserted.

  

 

The tube is connected to a source of high suction and passed within the fatty tissue so that unwanted fat cells are loosened and suctioned away.

This surgical procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, under either general or local anesthesia, depending on the preference of surgeon and patient.

What happens after ?
 You will usually be required to wear an elastic dressing for several days following the procedure to provide support and to maintain your new shape.

Most patients experience some bruising, minimal discomfort and swelling which may last for a few weeks. Most patients resume normal activity or return to work within a few days of the surgery. It takes up to six months before the final result of surgery is apparent.
However, a vast majority of patients are functional and presentable in 1 to 2 weeks.

What are the risks ?
 There are risks as in any surgical procedure, such as infection, bleeding, scarring, skin irregularities, etc.
